Thank you to all the parents/carers who came to our Phonics Screening Check meeting on Wednesday 8th May. We hope you found it useful and informative. If you were not able to attend i have attached the PowerPoint shown which contains all the information shared in the meeting. Parents/carers who attended were also given a booklet consisting of the sounds the children have been working hard in school to learn. Additional copies have been made so that every child will receive the booklet this week so that they can practise the sounds at home. The Phonics Screening Check will be taking place week commencing Monday 10th June which is when we return to school after half term. Therefore any support you can provide to help your child practise using the booklet during the half term would be greatly appreciated. There are also fun and exciting games online at www.letters-and-sounds.com which is free to access and the children are very familiar with. It is of great importance that children practise blending the word first before saying the word as that is what is tested in the Check.

When we are reading with our children, it is really important that we say sounds in their true form. Below please find a link to a video (how to say the sounds) that explains how to say each sound correctly.

If you have any questions or would like some more advice, please speak to your class teacher!
