Year 6 had sweet success this week during the launch of their new science topic, Classification. They sorted and classified a selection of sweets based on their characteristics and created a branching database.

Creating imagery with ‘The Raven’
Year 6 read the poem ‘The Raven’ by Edgar Allan Poe, focusing on the imagery within it. They studied metaphors and similes before writing and performing their own spooky poetry to the class!

6B Science
This term in science, 6B have been exploring the circulatory system and how it affects their bodies. We completed an experiment where they ran a lap of the playground and then recorded how their heart rates had changed.

Reading role models!
We have been learning about the positive impact our actions can have on others. Recently, we visited our Reception pupils to help them with their reading by sharing a story together in their classrooms. The reading session was enjoyed by all!

Amazing work in Art and Design
6S have been learning how to draw in perspective, combining this skills with their knowledge of the Ancient Egyptians. They progressed from simple pyramids to adding a foreground using tracing paper to create the illusion of depth. Great work, 6S!

Exploring God's creation
Year 6 got out and about this week in our school garden to complete a scavenger hunt. They were asked to find a series of items to represent different parts of God's creation. We later learnt that all creation is a gift from God and that it is our responsibility!

Stations of the Cross
6 Blessed were the perfect teachers to 3 Blessed as they guided them around the Stations of the Cross in Church and explained what happened at each station. Year 3 were quizzed on their knowledge at the end and I’m pleased to say were able to talk confidently about each station. Well done…

Year 6 discussed the importance of staying safe online and how to consider things carefully before sending any images or messages to people.

Year 6 fire safety talk
As we become more independent, we also have to think about risk. The fire brigade reminded us about charging devices at night and having our phone under our pillow, where it could overheat and catch fire.
