“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.” – Nelson Mandela
Our Spanish curriculum is a progressive curriculum which is designed to deepen and build on the previous years of learning. Its primary purpose is to promote a love of foreign languages and build confidence in speaking and understanding another language. At the heart of all our learning is a focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills which helps pupils to develop a genuine interest and curiosity about the culture.
Learning a foreign language is liberating and provides an opening to other cultures. It also provides opportunities for children to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking and read good literature in the original language.
We want children leaving our school to have high self-esteem as well as understanding and respect for people from different cultures, lifestyles and customs.
