RECEPTION BLOG

We have been very busy this week! We have been on an autumn walk, shared lots of stories together and had birthday parties in the home corner. 

We have been very busy in Reception Sacrament! We have had lots of fun making new friends and exploring the different areas of our classroom. This week, in PE we have been practicing our balancing skills. 
 

What a great start to school!

We have had a super week meeting new friends and trying new activities.

We are looking forward to delivering the pilot of Red Rose Maths in EYFS in Reception in 2024.

In Reception we have been enjoying the sunshine by using our outdoor area. The children have been using their gross motor skills to pop bubbles, ride scooters and twirl the ribbons. The children have been building houses using the crates and setting up picnics.

In Reception the children have been looking at the story “The tiger who came for tea”. The children have enjoyed exploring the story and holding tiger tea parties in the home corner. We have been talking about what we would do if a tiger came for tea and what we would feed it.

As part of our Literacy lesson related to our book Oliver’s Vegetables the children tried different vegetables. The children used all of their senses when trying the vegetables. We looked, smelt and tasted them. We used beetroot, turnip, carrot and cabbage. Once the children had tried all the…

To celebrate World Book Day, Reception class children were invited to a story session at Ribbleton library. We enjoyed a story read by the librarian and then explored the library sharing stories with their friends.

This week in Phonics we have been learning some new phonemes. We have been practising forming the new graphemes. The children have been working hard to ensure their formation is improving. Well done Reception

We have really enjoyed our PE lesson today. We have learnt why it is important to warm our bodies up before we exercise and noticed some changes to our heart rate when we have exercised.

The children in RS made a bucket list of activities they would like to do before they leave Reception. They decided they would like to visit an ice cream shop, so their wish is our command. On Monday we went on a trip to Cuff’s Ice Cream Shop. It was a lovely treat and was enjoyed by everyone…
