Exploring materials in Year 1 Sacrament
We have been busy looking at and handling a variety of materials to work out what they are. We also looked at a variety of objects to decide what they are made of. Science in year 1 is very “hands on” and we all love exploring!

Hickory Dickory Dock!
Year 1 have been really busy in English lessons over the last two weeks. We have learnt and performed, to nursery, the rhyme, "Hickory Dickory Dock."
Next, we changed the rhyme to include our favourite animal and then had a go, on our own, at writing our new version.

Our Class Tree
Year 1 Sacrament went to find our class tree! We will be watching how our tree (a common lime) changes over the year! The children had great ideas of what may happen!

We have been learning about types of families and today we went for a walk around school to meet members of our school family. We have settled into Year 1 and we are starting to learn our new routines.

1 Blessed
1 Blessed have settled into Year 1 wonderfully and have been hard at work all week. Today we went for a walk around school to look at the local area around The Blessed Sacrament school. This is for our current Geography topic of ‘Our local area’.

PE in Year 1
Year 1 enjoyed their PE lesson on the MUGA this week. One of our exercises was learning to do, and perfect our skills at, a standing long jump. They all tried their very best.

Y1 BAE STEM Workshop
Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed their turn with a Roving Robot Workshop run by BAE. It was all about team work and together groups programmed the speed of a robot to get the fastest time around the course.

Our School Garden
Yesterday we explored our school garden. We recorded the types of flowers and trees we found. We took care to draw the shapes of the petals and leaves correctly to help us make a leaflet to identify them.

Number Bonds to 10
