RECEPTION BLOG

This week our story focus has been the Three Billy Goats Gruff, so we decided to make bridges in outdoor adventures. We all displayed great problem solving skills and lots of team work supporting our friends. 

We have been looking at old photos from the travelling museum. We tried to recreate a couple of the photographs so we could see how our school and church have changed over the years.

We had the most fantastic day at the farm recently. So many animals we had never seen before, a tractor ride, holding chicks and we even hand fed the goats.

We had lots of fun on our recent visit to the farm! 

Reception Sacrament had lots of fun at sports day. It was great to see lots of team spirit, and Miss Withnell is so proud of you all. A big thank you to all of our parents and carers, who were able to come and watch us.

We are reading the traditional story 'Little Red Riding Hood' and our role play area has been turned into Grandmas's house. 

This week we have been reading The Three Little Pigs. All the children really enjoyed the story! We have made pigs, houses for the pigs and even dressed up. 

We really enjoyed creating bird feeders in outdoor adventures this week. Some of us were a bit unsure about the lard but we were all sure that the birds will love it. 

Reception Blessed wanted to welcome our new Pope, Leo XIV and made him a card. We each spoke about what we would say if we met the Pope. We even sent our card to The Vatican City.

Reception Sacrament have really enjoyed learning all about the new Pope. We were eagerly awaiting the news on Thursday, even setting up chairs in our classroom to watch the chimney to see if a new Pope had been selected. We were all really excited on Friday after hearing the news and seeing the…

This half term we have been learning about planting and growing. On Friday Mrs O'Connor very kindly gave us some cabbage and potatoes. We cooked the cabbage, talking about when it's ready it looks like it is dancing in the pan. Some children enjoyed the cabbage more than others! 

This week we have been working on doubling and halving in maths. On Thursday we used different food items that we could split in half.
